Problem to solve

Reading an interesting book at the moment. Here is an interesting problem,

Consider the following problem. A bat and a ball cost $1.10. The bat costs $1 more than the ball. How much does the ball cost....?

It is in the book, most peoples answer from the gut is 10cents.
Is all to do with how we make decisions. It is a question from a psychology study.
