Global Warming and Climate Change

Watched an interesting documentary around climate change. Channel 4 " The great global warming swindle".
Basically it said that climate change was principally driven by the sun, rather than CO2. Interesting counter argument to the Climate change debate and that it is politically motivated (it is certainly politically charged).
There is also interesting and clear rebuttal from the Met office and climate change scientists. This is also interesting.
The program makers are being accused of selective use of facts and data and some of the interviewees seem upset by how they we presented in the program. (this wikipedia article has most of the links)
It struck me that I cannot seem to find a reliable source of data to review the facts.
This is a science, there should be debate, but how do I ensure the data has not been spun to an agenda. Need to see the raw data to help.
What is clear, whatever the truth, we should still not rely on fossil fuels. Even outside the effect on climate change, they are running out, we need an alternative and start conserving to prepare for this day.
I would certainly rather have pharmaceuticals and plastic than petrol/gas to run my SUV.
We are inefficient, are wasting energy and a precious resource.
