A Facebook centred OS would replicate the closed environment of Facebook on the web. Everything could be routed and analysed internally, a completely controlled environment (as is many people never leave the the Facebook environment).
Obviously this could have big implications for advertising revenue, and done properly, if shared with the carriers could even be used to subsidise handsets, even free handsets.
Would this not be a compelled proposition for many consumers, a free faceback smart phone, free dataplans, free calls and messaging to other Facebook users.
It could be a compelling proposition for Facebook. A walled garden of consumers, known location, know personal data and surfing habits. Advertisers could pay handsomely for this try of targeting.
